Near Norfolk, England, train riders had an unexpected delay after passengers spotted a giant tortoise slowly walking across the tracks. Clyde the tortoise managed to delay four rail lines on August 1 for two hours after he wandered away from his home at the Swallow Aquatics Center in East Harling.

I think he smashed his way out to freedom because he wanted to find a girl tortoise. I guess he just wanted some female company, and he thought that Norwich was the right place to find some.

According to Ndtv.com, Diana Akers had been on the passenger train when she spotted Clyde moving along the tracks. Diane, tweeting as @di_akers_ posted the tortoise’s photo on Twitter. The 140-pound Clyde, who is approximately 2 ft 6 inches long and in his 20s, had a “superficial” injury to the top of his shell which could have been caused by the train speeding over him.

The tortoise was still walking along the track when he was found. He is currently being treated for his injuries and is lucky to be alive.

Stay safe Clyde.
