Homeless dog has waited at shelter since 2013: He needs a home

In May 2013, Friends of Homeless Animals introduced a German shepherd mix named Gabe to Facebook followers. At the time, the homeless dog was just over a year of age and he was looking for a family to call his own. In 2013, the shelter wrote:

Say good morning to Gabe and help him find a home! Gabe is a beautiful German Shepherd Mix just over a year old. He is the perfect size at about 50 lbs and he loves to go for walks, smell the flowers and run around in the play yard chasing balls.

Fast forward to August 2022 – Gabe is now a senior dog and he is still homeless. It is hard to imagine that this dog has essentially spent his entire life without a home of his own, but that is Gabe’s reality.

In May 2022, the shelter wrote:

This is Gabe, a 10 year old German Shepherd. If you’ve followed our page for any amount of time, you know he has been with us for a while looking for his special family. He is looking for a home with no children, other dogs, or cats. Once you earn his trust, you will be rewarded with a partner for endless games of catch and long walks.

Gabe started off as a just past puppyhood homeless pooch and now he is one of the Virginia shelter’s senior dogs. How very sad.
