A small dog zipped into a black backpack passed through an X-ray machine in Wisconsin at the Madison Dane County Regional Airport. According to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) the pet had been in the backpack which had been lying face down in one of the luggage bins.
When traveling with any animal, notify your airline and know their rules. At the checkpoint, remove your pet from the bag and send all items, including the empty carrier, to be screened in the machine.

TSA_Green Lakes also shared a video showing passengers how to correctly travel with a pet. In the video, a passenger is shown traveling with a cat. If a passenger is afraid their pet might attempt an escape, they are urged to speak with a supervisor before removing the pet from the travel bag. Alternative screening options may be available.
