In 2020, a dog named Seven was rescued from an undeniably cruel situation. He and five other dogs were seized from a convicted dog fighter. The Pennsylvania SPCA writes:

When our humane officers received a call from local police regarding a case involving dog-fighting activity, they arrived on scene to find Seven, and his five “siblings” living on short chains, on the property of a convicted dog fighter, with dog-fighting paraphernalia on scene.

Seven and the other dogs were freed from their tethers, taken to the shelter and officially released from protective custody 13 months later.

This week, the shelter shared insight to Seven’s personality, writing:

During his long wait, Seven won the hearts of every single staff member and volunteer he interacted with. His snuggly, happy, wiggly little body, and his wide smile warmed every single soul he touched. He showed us that he loves nothing more than playing with toys, and snuggling up on a soft blankie with his best human friend. He’s a good boy on walkies and there isn’t really anything that doesn’t make this boy happy as a little clam.

Writing of their commitment to finding him a home:

Seven is a victim of the cruel and deplorable world of illegal dog fighting, and we are dedicated to ensuring he gets the second chance at the life he deserves.

And their hope that someone will take a chance on him:

We have been heartbroken watching this sweet, sweet dog waiting for his happily ever after in a kennel, watching prospective adopters pass him by every day. We know what a lovely dog he could be for a lucky person or family. Seven loves his people (really, all people), and is looking for someone committed to loving him for the rest of his days, and keeping him happy and safe.

His past should not define him, and we hope that someone out there is open to taking a chance on his sweet face.

Because of Seven’s past, he must be adopted to a family that has no other pets.
