Dog barely given second look because of her size but look at her soulful eyes and gentle nature

What better recommendation can a shelter dog in desperate need of a home receive than to hear how she is a staff favorite? This sweet girl, named Naomi is scheduled to be euthanized this week unless she is adopted or rescued.

And some of them truly break your heart in different ways than others. When most people see this girl, they are taken aback or intimidated by her very lean muscular body and cropped ears. She’s passed by real quick, not even given the decency of a second look. People speed right pass her kennel and don’t give her another thought. I’ve watched it happen with my own eyes more than once.

Sadly, breed discrimination is real, and nearly every dog who even slightly resembles a pit bull type breed is the last to be saved from euthanasia. The mothers and their puppies sitting in the shelter the longest, waiting for either a rescue or foster, are typically the pit bull breeds also.

Naomi is a three-year-old dog with soulful eyes, and it seems as if she is looking into your heart begging to become a part of your family. She is confused and sad. If her ears were long and floppy and her head a little less square, would someone have stopped to meet her?

Check out Naomi’s video:

Naomi is sweet and affectionate and “smart as hell who deserves out of that shelter.” When she first entered into the shelter, she was very dog reactive, but now appears to just get over excited or maybe she’s just dog selective? She did fine with a younger, quiet female dog when they met. Many dogs have initially been dog reactive for weeks in the shelter, and then they calm down as their real personalities begin to emerge.

And just to make sure Naomi has the best possible chance at success in a new home, someone with breed experience is preferred. Please share her plight with friends, family, approved rescue organizations and social media. Her time is running out, and sharing does save lives.

  1. I wish I could foster this precious treasure but I am in Washington state…….

I feel so badly and helpless…….

I hope someone local can open up their heart and house for this precious treasure. She deserves to be with a loving furever family who will treat her as a beloved family member for her entire life……
