A tiny chihuahua in Lake Wales, Florida is lucky to be alive after his owner lost his temper because dog had been lying on the baby furniture this past Sunday. Cesar Cruz Sanchez, 36, allegedly used the dog’s leash to strangle him and then threw the defenseless pooch in the bushes.
According to WwlpNews, Cruz was caught on surveillance video pulling the six-year-old dog named Canelo by its leash as it resisted walking. A witness saw Cruz wrap the leash around the dog’s neck and then toss the dog away.
Shortly after, a concerned citizen called Animal Control and reported finding a stray chihuahua believed to have been Canelo and returned the dog to his owner. Authorities responded to Cruz’ home and seized the dog.
“Although we are sickened at the treatment Canelo received by his owner, Cesar Cruz Sanchez, we are happy Canelo is still and alive and will be treated well at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Shelter,” police stated.
