Authorities fear dog tied with heavy chain thrown into lake alive

A dog discovered with a “large, heavy chain” was found dead in a lake in Basildon, Essex, England. The deceased dog was found by a worker for the city at Northlands Park one week ago.

According to EssexLiveNews, authorities could not identify the breed, the age or the sex of the dog because of its deteriorated condition, although it is thought the dog had been a Staffordshire bull terrier.

Inspector Adam Jones from the  RSPCA believe the dog had been wrapped in the heavy chains while still alive and thrown into the lake. Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities. This dog deserved better than to die such a horrible death.

“I am investigating this sad incident and would appeal to anyone who may know who owns the dog or the circumstances in which they came to be in the lake. Sadly, I suspect that this poor dog may have been alive then they were put int the water because whoever has done this has used a very heavy chain which we presume is to weigh the dog’s body down,” Jones stated.

One can only imagine how scared this poor dog was and how horribly he suffered. What kind of monster would treat a dog like this?
