Hero saved dog when its leash became caught between elevator doors

In Houston, Texas, a quick thinking hero saved the life of a small dog when its leash became caught between the doors of an elevator.

Johnny Mathis shared the video on Twitter where he called the situation an “intense moment to say the least.”

The video showed a woman entering the elevator with her Pomeranian dog following her. Mathis had just exited the elevator when the doors quickly closed before the dog was able to enter the elevator with his owner. Mathis spotted the dog left behind still attached to its leash. The hero grabbed the dog and removed the leash just in time. The elevator had been headed to the sixth floor, and there wasn’t much time to act. Mathis was a quick thinker for sure.

“Y’all I’m shaking!!! I just saved a dog on a leash that didn’t make it onto the elevator with the owner before the door closed! I just happened to turn around as the door closed and it started to lift off the ground I got the leash off in time,” Mathis stated on Twitter after posting the video.”

Mathis could hear the owner screaming and said she was new to the building and hadn’t expect the elevator doors to have closed so quickly.

The end of the video shows the dog safe and Mathis waiting for the owner to return to get her dog. You are a hero sir!

And here’s another reason to get rid of those retractable leashes.
