Deputy rescues crying kitten and falls in love at first ‘meow’

Deputy Sheriff C. Bowling from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida had stopped at a local store to buy a beverage when he heard a faint crying in the dark. Grabbing his flashlight, the deputy went to take a look – the sound had been coming from a storm drain near Pace and Navy Boulevard.

Deputy Bowling bent down and while using his flashlight to catch any movement, two tiny eyes stared back. It was a tiny kitten, and even though he used tuna to help lure the tiny one out, he was too young to eat and  therefore not interested in the treat. When finally the officer was able to get close enough, he managed to grab him – full of dirt, infested with fleas and no mother cat around.

Off to the veterinarian Deputy Bowling and the kitten went. According to the vet, had the kind officer not saved him that night, the kitten probably would have died.

Care to make a guess what happened next? If you said Deputy Bowling and his wife adopted the kitten, now named Rambo, you’re right. The little guy is clean, free of those pesky fleas and obviously has bonded with his hero.
