A disturbing video showing a 15-year-old boy slamming a tiny dog to the ground has resulted in his arrest, according to a press release from the Hollister Police.
On January 30, the Sunnyvale Animal Control and the Hollister Police Animal Care and Services responded to an animal cruelty report involving the teen and an eight-month-old Maltese puppy named Bella. A Snapchat video submitted to authorities showed the teen holding the tiny black and white dog in his arms before tossing the dog to the ground. The video showed the five-pound puppy had been thrown and landed from seven to ten feet in front of the suspect.
Additional investigation from the police indicate previous incidents of alleged animal cruelty to the same dog with the same teen. One previous account shows the teen kicking the puppy and the pup landing several feet away.
Bella is currently in the custody of the Hollister Animal Shelter and has been examined by a veterinarian. The teen faces felony animal cruelty charges and on Saturday was booked into the San Benito County Juvenile Hall.
