Think about the sick person responsible for the “sickening” cruelty to an innocent three-month-old Yorkie who had been wrapped in five plastic bags tightly secured at the top and tossed into a garbage can in a supermarket’s shopping center on Tuesday afternoon in Lawrence Square, Ontario? Fortunately, the puppy was still alive when shopper, Josh Miller, noticed something “yelping” from a nearby trash container. According to CBCNews, initially Miller thought the animal might have been a raccoon or a squirrel.
” I saw that the bag was kind of moving. I was a little freaked out,” Miller admitted during an interview.
As Miller tried to free whatever had been trapped, he had to rip apart each of the five plastic bags which had been tied at the top. And once he tore through all of the bags, the Good Samaritan was shocked to find the adorable little puppy; she had been dehydrated, soaked in her own urine and on the verge of dying from suffocation. Immediately Miller rushed the puppy to a nearby veterinarian. Doctors have found nothing wrong with the purebred Yorkshire terrier besides having been dehydrated. Although she did have a microchip, it had never been registered.
In a happy ending for the puppy, she is being adopted by friends of Miller. The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has not commented on this particular case of animal cruelty, however they do encourage anyone with evidence of animal cruelty to report it to authorities immediately. Be the voice for those who cannot speak. Make a difference in the life of an animal – one dog, cat, horse, etc. at a time. It adds up!
Such cruelty as this just defies logic. Hopefully the responsible person can be found, prosecuted and punished.
