‘Sickening’ cruelty: 3-month-old Yorkie wrapped in plastic bags dumped in garbage can

Think about the sick person responsible for the “sickening” cruelty to an innocent three-month-old Yorkie who had been wrapped in five plastic bags tightly secured at the top and tossed into a garbage can in a supermarket’s shopping center on Tuesday afternoon in Lawrence Square, Ontario? Fortunately, the puppy was still alive when shopper, Josh Miller, noticed something “yelping” from a nearby trash container. According to CBCNews, initially Miller thought the animal might have been a raccoon or a squirrel.

” I saw that the bag was kind of moving. I was a little freaked out,” Miller admitted during an interview.

As Miller tried to free whatever had been trapped, he had to rip apart each of the five plastic bags which had been tied at the top. And once he tore through all of the bags, the Good Samaritan was shocked to find the adorable little puppy; she had been dehydrated, soaked in her own urine and on the verge of dying from suffocation. Immediately Miller rushed the puppy to a nearby veterinarian. Doctors have found nothing wrong with the purebred Yorkshire terrier besides having been dehydrated. Although she did have a microchip, it had never been registered.

In a happy ending for the puppy, she is being adopted by friends of Miller. The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has not commented on this particular case of animal cruelty, however they do encourage anyone with evidence of animal cruelty to report it to authorities immediately. Be the voice for those who cannot speak. Make a difference in the life of an animal – one dog, cat, horse, etc. at a  time. It adds up!

Such cruelty as this just defies logic. Hopefully the responsible person can be found, prosecuted and punished.

Why??? How??? How is it possible for a person to hear the cries of a puppy and dump it in a trash can. JUST TAKE IT TO THE SHELTER!!!! Thank God there is a good person who is taking this sweet baby. Enjoy your new life!!

Just take it to the shelter? Are you crazy. It just escaped death thanks to a very kind, compassionate soul. When you take it to the so called shelter , the poor baby has a good chance of being put to sleep.

Were the police called? Any investigation? Store camera video surveillance looked at by the manager of this store or anyone? Surely the manager of this store heard of this happening–they must have. What did the cameras show? Did they save these films and notify police? Has anyone asked them to do so? If not, they need to before more time makes any investigation impossible.

They surely have some idea where that microchip might have come from and who might have had it even if it hasn’t been registered! There should also be some cameras at the market that could have recorded this, and I really hope there are because the POS who did this needs to be put in jail for as long as possible. (Too bad there can’t be any plastic bags over the head involved).

Where the microchip comes from may not mean much. I’m a dog carer for our local RSPCA branch here in NSW, Australia, and a 5 month old pup in my care has just been purchased by a person from Gympie, QLD, which is about 8 hours drive away, so it is possible that the pup could have been halfway across the USA where she was dumped. What concerns me about this is that she was microchipped, but it wasn’t registered, making the owner untracable. I suspect that the owner is the person who has done this callous act, of deliberately securing the pup in those plastic bags with the ultimate aim of a very slow and painful death. Best chance of identifying the perpetrator is video footage at the shopping center.

How people can do something like this makes me sick! It makes you wonder how many are disposed of like this that aren’t fortunate enough to have a guardian angel find them. God bless Josh Miller, he made a difference in this precious pups life!

What a disgusting POS to do this unnecessary cruelty…….
Hope he is arrested & locked up forever with animal lovers who can give him “special attention”…….
Hope the rest of his useless life is filled with pain and suffering. Execution would improve our planet since this POS is a waste of resources…… Already know he will burn in Hell forever for his cruelty…….

VERY thankful that she was rescued, cared for and rehomed to a family who will love and treasure her!!!!!!!

I truly believe there are more monsters and sick creeps in this world than good humans. Our precious animals are paying for this atrocity. Thank you to the man you did save this sweet baby from a horrible death.

What an adorable pup. Surly someone was looking for her? This is something a angry boy/girlfriend might due as revenge. I’m glad there was someone to hear her cries.

I hadn’t thought of this possibility, but you have made an excellent point!!!!!!

Thank goodness this pup was saved. There must be video cameras somewhere around the area. The pos needs to have several bags over their head and tied to a tree.

Just think if every single monster that commits brutal, cruel, vindictive acts of cruelty on innocent animals could be shot and dumped into the closest landfill and permanently eliminated from this world what a better and safer place this planet would be! Society does not want or need the vile vermin that cruely hurts the helpless and the innocent that exists among us! IF ONLY!!! I had to wait a day to read this post, had to prepare myself for the sickening act of cruelty I was going to read! So so very relieved this gorgeous precious baby is safe and alive!

GIANORMOUS THANK YOU TO JOSH MILLER – You are a hero to this little dog who probably would have suffocated if not for you – ANYONE who would do this should be hogtied and dumped in the nearest landfill with the rest of the trash. So glad this little guy got a home – he deserves the very best.
