In Invercargill, New Zealand, police announced they have identified several youngsters who threw a concrete block several times at a defenseless kitten. The despicable deed was captured on video where the suspects are between 11 and 16-years-old.
According to the New Zealand Herald, the children are currently being interviewed by the Invercargill Youth Services and will be referred to the appropriate authorities for action in this case. Authorities state they were sickened by the cruelty of the video. The video had been posted online by the organization Paw Justice.
“We made the very hard call to post a horrific video of a kitten being stoned to death. We did that because we know sometimes the hardest truths are the only ones that get results.
You cannot un-see what you have seen, and we cannot undo what has been done to that little kitten. Animal abuse is an ugly, messy reality and we believe the fight must be made public. That is where YOU come in.
And sometimes, the fight get results.”
In the video, one girl can be heard saying:
“Put it on the concrete or else it won’t f***ing die.”
At least two people could be heard laughing in the background. Within an hour of the video having been posted, one teen was placed under arrest. It is not known if the kitten was killed, but the SPCA has since removed three other kittens from the home of one of the “offenders.”
Does the violence against those who cannot defend themselves ever end? Be the voice for those who cannot speak. These teens were apprehended because people care.
