A K-9 officer helped to apprehend a suspected carjacker on June 5, following a two-and-a-half hour, 55-mile chase beginning in Fontana and ending in Lynwood in Southern California.
A suspect had been reported driving a stolen white pickup truck when the Fontana Police Department initiated the chase. Shortly, thereafter the California Highway Patrol (CHP) joined the pursuit, and officers attempted to deploy spike strips, however the suspect managed to maneuver around them.
The suspect had been driving erratically – running through red lights and even driving on the wrong side of the road. A report from one officer stated the suspect had held his hand outside of the driver’s side window making spiteful obscene gestures.
When finally cornered, the suspect exited the vehicle, but rather than surrendering to the police, he attempted to flee. A K-9 officer was deployed and within minutes the dog brought the man to the ground.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
