Poor Queeni; her story is heartbreaking, but not so unusual anymore as owners admit to not being able to feed and care for their dogs. Abandoning a dog is illegal, but this handwritten note left in a neighbor’s yard where Queenie had been abandoned, offered a heartbreaking explanation how devastated the dog’s owner had been.
According to the Darlington County Humane Society located in Hartsville, South Carolina, Queeni is one-year-old and weighs 39.4 pounds. Her story went viral last week after she was abandoned in a stranger’s backyard with a note from her previous owner who said she could no longer care for her dog.
The note stated:
Hi. Sorry for dropping Queeni in your yard this morning, but I can no longer care for her. Please take care of her… She is a lovely dog.
The note also stated Queeni had not been around other dogs or children, but loved to play with her plastic bone and watch television.
When Queeni arrived at the shelter, the staff wanted to keep the news associated with the abandoned dog along with the tearful explanation more on a positive note by asking for volunteers to come and spend time with the shelter dogs.

Queeni did test heartworm positive and will be undergoing treatment for approximately six weeks which will be her recovery time and the chance to get her spayed.
Most people who commented stated they had been brought to tears thinking about how desperate the dog’s owner had to have been. Others were just grateful Queeni’s owner didn’t just abandon her on the side of a road somewhere.
