Internet draws tears for shelter dog who thinks she’s not pretty enough to be adopted

At Last Chance Animal Rescue located in Holbrook, New York, despite her best efforts, Sadie still has not found her family at the organization’s latest adoption event. Her caretakers can see it in her eyes – “why hasn’t anyone picked me? Am I not pretty enough?”

Sadie has been patiently waiting for a home since March 2025, and we have noticed her “tapping her paw” at times hoping her perfect family will pop in at anytime.

Of course, Sadie is pretty enough and wearing her pink fuzzy sweater, she’s twice as adorable. Do clothes really make the girl, or does the girl add to the beauty of the outfit? No argument on that one with Sadie; she’s just beautiful, and her pink sweater is perfect!

Sadie is looking for that special home that understands she’s a brave girl but still gets a little nervous. She loves giving hugs and kisses and enjoys playing with stuffies, squeaky balls and chew bones. She feels most confident with another doggy friend.

At approximately six years of age, she’s mostly chill but still gets the zoomies. She’ll leap up and down with excitement when it’s time for a walk and enjoys going new places—especially if doggy friends are around.

When Sadie first arrived in NY, she was shy and nervous, afraid to even go outside. Now Sadie loves life and wants to share it with a new family!

Sadie loves to go for walks and to zoom around with her toys and she gets along well with other dogs and respectful children

She knows her special people are out there and will give her the time she needs to open up and show them the amazing pup that she is.

Here’s what the staff and volunteers had to say about this precious gal:

“Sadie is 6 years young with the zoomie energy of a pup—she’ll fly over your couch like it’s an Olympic sport. But once she’s done, she’s ready to snuggle up right next to (or on top of) you like the world’s softest, most affectionate weighted blanket.

She’s food-motivated and will do almost anything for a treat… except maybe leave the house when it feels scary. Commands? She’s got “sit” (ish), “come” (when she feels like it), and “give kisses” down pat. She’s working on her confidence, but she’s gentle, sweet, and loves having a calm canine buddy to help show her the ropes.

Sadie takes time to trust—but once she does, she’s yours. Loyal, loving, goofy, and full of heart. Just like all the best homebodies.”

Sadie is good with other dogs. She loves meeting new people. She is house trained, spayed. She is described as moderately active and enjoys exercise (don’t we all?) Her new home should have a fence.

Please share this delightful pooch with friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives and helps dogs find that special home they all deserve.
