In San Bernardino County, California, a proud puppy mom nearly lost her Doberman Pinscher puppy named Blue over the weekend after having “engaged” in what she thought was a friendly conversation and admiration of her adorable pup.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office, the owner and her child had been walking with Blue in the city of Bloomington on Sunday when two suspects approached them.
the victim stated to suspects, one female and one male, approached her and asked questions about Blue. They had an engaging conversation about dogs and the care of dogs.
The female suspect asked the puppy’s owner if she could hold Blue. After a short conversation, the other suspect asked the puppy owner for her card and more information, which required the owner to reach into her car and momentarily turn her back.
When Blue’s owner turned around, the two suspects were running with the puppy in their arms and quickly got into a waiting vehicle and sped away.
Police were able to identify the suspects as Milagro De Las Mercedez, 21, and Elian Perez, 18. The puppy was found safe at the suspects’ residence. The two were booked into West Valley Detention Center. Blue was returned to his owner.
