Imagine the life of a 20-year-old cat found as a stray living at the United Kingdom’s biggest power plant? Meet Buzz, the senior cat who was emaciated, had trouble with his back legs, nearly blind and deaf when he was discovered and rescued from the Drax Power Station earlier this year.
Now here’s a cat with nine lives – at least!

The RSPCA (Goole branch) brought him to their facility where he received life saving treatment. He is thought to have been the oldest cats the charity had ever had the privilege to care for and love.
As part of his recovery, even though he was described as extremely resilient, Buzz had to have several teeth removed, wounds stitched and treated for hyperthyroidism – common in older cats. His kitty records indicated he had been at another rescue in 2005 and was adopted.
his vision, although imperfect, has improved. He’s gained weight, his fur is regrowing and his wounds are healing beautifully.
About ten years ago, he was supposedly rehomed, but his microchip had not been updated, so where he went is unclear, however a worker at the power plant had been feeding him for years, and that’s where he was thought to have been for years.
How can a cat with such resilience not motivate all of us to treasure every day? We’re talking 96-years-old in human counting.

Buzz has now been made comfortable and is being loved by a permanent foster family in Lincolnshire. According to his family, Buzz manages to go up and down steps, has a great appetite and loves chin rubs.
Have a pampered retirement Buzz. You certainly deserve the best life ever!
