It had to have been so heartbreaking as pedestrians just walked by this poor eight-year-old dog trying his best to survive on the streets. No one wanted him, no one paid attention to him, and everyone seemed too busy going their own way to help the emaciated dog. And then, he could no longer walk, and a kind person called for help.
Don was brought to Miami-Dade Animal Services at the end of last week, weighing only 10 pounds. The black and white terrier mix had been wearing a collar, however no one had inquired about him, and the shelter had scheduled him to be humanely euthanized because of his physical condition.
THE NEGLECT THIS POOR DOG SUFFERED IS INCOMPREHENSIBLE. SEVERELY UNDERWEIGHT, DEHYDRATED, MUSCLE WASTING, SEVERE DENTAL DISEASE, OCULAR OPACITY, PENIS STUCK OUT OF PREPUCE. THIS WAS APPARENTLY SOMEONE’S DOG.

It had been True and Faithful Rescue Mission that had received a call from the shelter asking for help for Don. He was transported yesterday afternoon and has been at the veterinarian office. Although the shelter stated Don could not walk, by mid afternoon Don was up and about and enjoying the afternoon sunshine. Don doesn’t have a heart murmur either and has been eagerly charging at his food.
His veterinarians are waiting for additional blood tests and x-ray results.
Don is a rat terrier mix and “is as old as they come” however he deserves and will be receiving the best life his rescuers can provide.
