At the SPCA of Wake County in Raleigh, North Carolina, it had been a heartbreaking afternoon when a woman arrived carrying a two-pound, shaking puppy asking for help. The woman had been facing eviction, and the puppy had been severely underweight and not eating; a possibly fatal combination for a young puppy with a suppressed immune system due to lack of nourishment and the proper care.

The puppy, named Bluey, was surrendered to the organization; the woman knew he needed emergency care to save his life. Bluey was promptly administered fluids and nutrients. He was placed in a foster home, and for the last two weeks has been making a remarkable recovery.

We are so happy to share this amazing progress. The quiet, shaking little puppy who wouldn’t touch his food is now a bouncy, singing, ravenous little guy. He’s nearly gained a whole pound, and his spirits are high.

Bluey still has some weight to gain before he’s ready to be adopted. If you are interested, putting him on hold in the meantime, please use the Adoption Survey at spcawake.org/dogs and look him up by his ID number; A108236.

Just check out his pictures and fall hopelessly in love 😉
