In South Bend, Indiana, a Doberman has been adopted by the police officer who rescued him. The dog was first spotted last Friday, roaming around the city with a zip tie around his muzzle. Fortunately, South Bend Police Officer Stephanie Northcutt came to his rescue.

The officer slowly approached the frightened pup, offered him a treat and a gentle hand of friendship, and then held him while a Good Samaritan cut the zip-tie away from his snout

According to the department’s Facebook page, Officer Northcutt said she knew the moment she laid eyes on the pup that he was the perfect addition to her family. Now named Zeus, the dog spent some time bonding with Northcutt’s other dogs before the officers made it official with the folks of South Bend Animal Resource Center – SBARC.

SBARC’s team says Zeus will likely not suffer any long-term physical effects from his injuries and is doing extremely well.

Zeus is the second dog that Officer Northcutt has rescued from a tough situation while on patrol. She joked that the dispatchers at St Joseph County 9-1-1 should stop sending her to animal calls because she will soon run out of room at her house.

The investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding Zeus’ zip tie.
