In Monrovia, California, a family was quite surprised to find that a bear had been napping under their home; he was so comfortable, he didn’t want to leave.

According to WfsaNews, the bear appeared on the family’s Ring camera on Saturday and just made himself comfortable. When Tina Herzog, the homeowner ventured outdoors at dawn, she saw the crawl space window had been torn off. The several hundred pound bear had then popped off the grate and gingerly crawled through the opening, which happened to be under the first floor of the family’s home. And then the bear napped!

When Herzog took a flashlight and ventured into the basement of her home, she said the bear just stared at her. She spent most of her day making all kinds of noises, essentially pleading with the bear to leave, however “he didn’t budge,” Tina told media news interviewers.

And even though the crawl space area where the bear had made himself comfortable seemed way too small for a creature of his size, obviously the bear didn’t have the same opinion and refused to move. Even more concerning was the access to the first floor of the home had the bear decided to climb the steps.

Herzog tried everything to get the bear to leave, and finally through the recommendation of animal control, she threw mothballs into the space, and the bear promptly decided to leave.

It’s isn’t known why the bear decided to take a nap at Tina’s home; maybe he wasn’t feeling well or had been hurt.
