In Irvine, California, police officers from the Irvine Police Department helped to save the life of a tiny puppy on Thursday afternoon, after they found him suffering from a fentanyl overdose. After rescuing the puppy from imminent death, officers arrested the puppy’s owners for possession of fentanyl.

The puppy had been found inside of the suspects’ vehicle after the two people had been stopped for suspected narcotics possession at a Walmart store. The puppy began to show symptoms of an overdose.

Irvine police arrested Caleb Aaron Gibson, 29, and Katherine Marylou Menke, 27, for animal cruelty and narcotics possession.

After administering the Narcan to the puppy, the officers rushed him to an emergency veterinarian for treatment. The puppy, only eight-weeks-old, is expected to make a full recovery. The puppy will be transferred to Animal Services.

Many thanks to the officers for saving an innocent tiny life.
