In Columbus, Ohio, a very intelligent pup named Keanu, likes to impress visitors with his brain and his charm. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been adopted yet, and spending more than 100 days at the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center has caused him to be overlooked.

So let’s bring Keanu to the front of the line and discuss how Animal Care Manager Hannah Henschen tells us how well Keanu walks on a leash, how he loves to hike and how he is an outdoorsy kind of guy who wants to please his human companions.

And, if that’s not enough to stir up some interest in this handsome boy, how about reading about all the tricks and how he loves to learn? Keanu is perfect at sit, down, shake and even a good high five. The staff continues to work on more good canine citizen habits, including staying in place when asked.

Handsome, crazy smart, gentle and cuddly—these are the words that describe Keanu the best! This 3-year-old sweetheart recently went on a field trip alongside a shelter volunteer and his review was glowing!

He snuggled in the grass with the volunteer, was respectful to everyone around him and even gave the cutest big happy play bows to a friendly Collie along the way.

“Keanu was awesome in the car.” Shares our volunteer. “He sat like a literal human child in the back seat and waited patiently for me to leash him. He is great!”

Since Keanu does do well with other dogs and has shown stellar behavior at the dog park, it is very possible, with the correct and a slow introduction, that this boy will do fine with another dog in the home. At this time, he is in a foster home, but why not give the shelter a call and meet this boy? Keanu could be your next best friend, plus getting a loving home of his own, will open up another space for a new dog needing special care and love by the staff.
