In Greenville, South Carolina, the Greenville Humane Society rescued two yellow Labrador retrievers that had been dumped from a truck last month. Now the dogs need new foster homes and are hoping to find a loving spot to call their own together until they are ready to be adopted.

It had been a truck that not only dumped the dogs, but one of the dogs had been ran over. Good Samaritans had spotted the frightened dogs and were able to get help. One dog suffered a broken leg, and both dogs tested positive for heartworm disease.

The nine-year-old dogs remain extremely bonded. The male dog has since been named “Macaroni” while the female has been named “Cheese.” After the dogs were dumped, Macaroni stayed close to Cheese and refused to leave her side.

The dogs’ medical needs have topped out at nearly $6,500, and because of the generosity of the community and supporters, Macaron and Cheese have been able to receive the excellent care they deserve.

The dogs have been treated for kennel cough and were soon welcomed into a foster home on May 18, however a family emergency has brought the dogs back to the shelter.

Cheese is recovering well from her leg surgery and both have received their first heartworm treatments. Now, they just need a comfortable place to stay until their next checkup.

Once the dogs are fully healed and recuperated from their heartworm treatment, they are expected to be available for adoption.
