Guillermo Rodriquez, who is Jimmy Kimmel’s pal on the late show “Kimmel Live,” has apologized after viral news stated his two rescue dogs ended up at a local animal shelter.
Guillermo has since stated that all of this had been a miscommunication with his stepsister. According to Parade, the two dogs had been adopted by Guillermo in 2021. They are named Chase and Rey, and when he adopted the two cute chihuahuas, Guillermo posted their photos on his Instagram account.
The dogs had been adopted from Mutt Scouts, and the organization was recently notified by a Los Angeles animal shelter that Chase and Rey had been surrendered by an unnamed woman. The dogs’ microchips tracked them back to Mutt Scouts prior to having been adopted by Guillermo.
We were very upset when we received a call from the West Valley Shelter the other day that two former Mutt Scouts had been surrendered by their owners. We microchip our dogs and register them to our account for this very reason. We will always take dogs back into our care…

Mutt Scouts called out Guillermo on social media this week, and it didn’t take long to notice that Guillermo had deleted his past posts with the dogs.
Guillermo has since stated that he had been asked to care for his grandmother’s big dog as she battles dementia. At the same time, Guillermo had undergone surgery, and it had been his stepsister who had been caring for the three dogs. The woman had panicked at the thought of the big dog harming the chihuahuas and took them to the shelter. Guillermo said he immediately knew it had been a mistake to take the dogs to a shelter, and that he should have returned them to Mutt Scouts.
Guillermo has since contacted the rescue and said he “was sorry from the bottom of his heart.”
