Along the streets of San Francisco, an emaciated dog was dropped off onto the sidewalk in her crate on Saturday morning. according to reports, her previous “person” pulled up and left her there; inside of her feces and urine filled cage were tennis balls, an old sheet and part of a kong toy.
Good Samaritans approached the dog, who seemed very friendly, and gave her water and food. She had been very hungry and “super thirsty.”
“Someone just abandoned this dog on the street. She is emaciated. They pulled up and dropped her in the crate on the sidewalk. I think they tried to love her. There are tennis balls and old sheets and part of a kong. Someone just brough her water and some food. She’s super thirsty. She seems very friendly.”

Rocket Dog Rescue received the call for help, and within minutes volunteers were dispatched to help. Dianne scooped her up and brought her to the rescue where she was given a warm bath, dinner and cuddly blankets to snuggle into her; and of course a new name – meet Olive.
Of course, no one knows what happened to Olive, and why she was left in a crate filled with her own waste. Had she been locked in a garage and just left alone and forgotten? Had someone once loved her? Was her “person” struggling with life and unable to care for her?
All these questions certainly remain and likely will never be answered, but Olive’s broken heart will heal, and now she is safe.
