At the Habersham County Animal Shelter in Clarksville, Georgia, a challenging pup, albeit adorable, dubbed Toto seems to have awakened on the “wrong side of the yellow brick road” according to the shelter director, Madi.

The recent intake at the shelter shows Toto enjoying showing off his teeth, but this young man is definitely not smiling. At this time he is labeled “rescue only” until he can be convinced that the staff at the shelter all want to be his friends.

This is how it all began:

He comes at you like a tornado and I promise he isn’t smiling. Angry Toto needs that new heart the tinman got! Can you help him find it?

On Wednesday, the rescue organization posted Madi’s photos and his rather unbecoming behavior asking for help for “the furry demon” and/or to help him find a rescue organization that can step up and help.

Staff had been temporarily able to calm Toto with rotisserie chicken, but that was only a brief respite; eight hours later and two Trazadone, the dog rode shotgun with his rescuer like a gentleman. So far, Toto does seem dog and cat friendly, however he does insist on being the boss. Nevertheless, at the time he met the other pets, Toto was still dazed a bit on calming drugs.

Yet, Toto does have his shining points:

i’ll give the furry demon credit where credit is due – he does have excellent leash manners. he does not even think about biting you when you walk him.

Just when you look at him

or talk to him

or talk about him.

Toto is a 17-pound challenge. Currently his heartworm status is unknown, and he is not altered – which as promised will change soon.

Please be assured the above description and short story about Toto has all been done in fun and hopefully will aid in attracting help for him. At this point, the dog is fearful and reacting, but the kind people at the Habersham County Animal Shelter are giving him time out of the shelter to help him decompress in order to get a true behavior assessment in a less stressful environment.
