Florida missing K9 officer found by Good Samaritan after 24 hour search

In Tampa, Florida, a K9 officer named Chaos had been lost in the woods after getting loose while in pursuit of a suspect. The good news – Chaos is safe and in good health!

According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, it had been on Monday when Chaos got off-leash when he was sent to help apprehend a suspect near the Sheriff’s Office Operation Center.

After a nearly 24-hour search, K-9 Chaos had not been located. Multiple resources were utilized in attempts to find him, including searching the area with UTV’s, aerial support using helicopters and drones equipped with infrared technology, and bloodhounds from the Department of Corrections.

The area where they believed Chaos had been spotted had been searched as thoroughly as possible using every available resource.

Just hours later, the good news came! A Good Samaritan came across the dog on Southeast Pounds Hammock Road and called the sheriff’s office.

A huge thank you to the citizen who spotted him and called us! we are glad to have chaos back home!
