In Lakeland, Florida, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman on Thursday after she was allegedly caught on video stealing two dogs from an owner’s driveway the previous day. The owner of the two dogs posted security video onto social media on Wednesday of a “double dog napper” in the north Lakeland area.

The video showed the woman petting the dogs, and then grabbing one dog by its collar and soon after – grabbing the second dog and walking away from the driveway.

Someone recognized the alleged dog napper, and authorities later identified her as 49-year-old Sherry Comer.

When detectives went to the suspect’s home (about three miles away from the victim’s home), they found about 20 dogs inside, including the two stolen dogs. Comer told detectives she breeds and sells dogs. None of the dogs in her possession had been microchipped after having been scanned by Animal Control officers.

All of the dogs were well cared for, and the living conditions were clean and safe. No criminal activity was found in Comer’s home.

Sherry Comer was arrested and charged with Burglary and two counts of Grand Theft and the two stolen dogs were returned to their family.
