In Udaipur, Rajasthan, India, miracles happen everyday. Animal Aid Unlimited is a rescue-center, hospital and sanctuary for ownerless street animals, and the success stories continue to fill our hearts with gratitude. Throughout the country, animals including dogs, cows, cats and donkeys live on the streets.

Most cities don’t have hospitals for owner-less animals, which means injured or ill animals often die from treatable conditions. Animal Aid saves animals with fractures, wounds, mange, viral diseases, cancer, and much more. In addition, the organization vaccinates animals against rabies and other illnesses, conduct spay and neuter programs and educate the community about helping animals.

Just two weeks ago, it had been early in the evening when rescuers saw a “spot of white” on the road. As they approached, they could see a tiny puppy, and from a distance when she had not moved at all, it was thought she had not survived her trauma. Neighbors said the puppy had fallen into a drain.

Miraculously, the puppy was still alive, although she was comatose, and caretakers carefully picked her up, wrapped her in a blanket and rushed her back to the hospital. She was administered life saving treatment, but veterinarians were worried the puppy would not survive the night.

The staff kept her warm with hot water bottles changed throughout the night, and in the morning she was awake and moving about. Her body temperature still remained dangerously low, but an intravenous drip and medications helped the puppy regain her life. Is it any wonder why the staff dubbed her “Sunrise”?

By early afternoon, Sunrise had blossomed into a playful puppy whose mother must have been relieved to have her puppy home. Sunrise had a close brush with death, but wow, look at her now!

  1. This group works miracles with cases that would cause other rescues to “run the other way as fast as possible”!!! They are always on our donations list!!!

  2. I been watching Animal Aid India for years. I once saw them save a dog with half it’s face missing, while here the poor dog would have been put down. Their work is amazing. They take on the most lost causes I’ve ever seen of any rescue.
