15-year-old dog kicked by homeless man fighting for his life

In Venice, California, a man has been arrested for kicking a 15-year-old Yorkshire terrier so hard the pup remains in critical condition; but the little guy continues to fight for his life.

According to the GoFundMe site, the tiny dog named Bart, had been out on a walk with his owner, Laura Michele Rosenfield, on Wednesday afternoon when the disturbing incident occurred. The man allegedly “kicked Bart so hard, he flew into the metal claw of the bobcat tractor city workers were using to repair the street.”

A former firefighter near the scene was able to revive Bart after several minutes; the dog suffered a series of seizures after he was breathing again.

“Barty is doing a tiny bit better today thanks to all of the good wishes and his mother that spends every moment of the two separate visiting hours by his side. The swelling in his head is going down, but he still cannot stand on his own. The staff is hopeful that time will change that. In the meantime, he is being monitored 24 -7 thanks to everyone’s generosity in donating here and also directly to the hospital. I requested an up-to-date bill for transparency and I’m working on making the donations go straight to the hospital.”

More than $21,000 has been raised to help the dog.

And in the name of justice for a defenseless dog, Michael Langman, 39, has been booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. Police have obtained surveillance video of the dog being kicked by the suspect.

Multiple witnesses chased the suspect down and held him until police arrived and took him into custody.
