In Mantua, Ohio, 146 deceased dogs were discovered in the home which belonged to the founder of Canine Lifeline. A search warrant had been executed on Friday after authorities received a tip that the founder had a pending animal cruelty charge in another jurisdiction.

According to the Portage Animal Protective League, the organization’s Humane Investigations Department entered the home and discovered 146 dead dogs in various stages of decomposition. No dogs were found alive. Many of the dogs had been left confined to their crates.

Necropsies have been ordered to find out the exact cause of deaths of the dogs. The investigation is currently ongoing.

The news release is the only information we will be providing at this time. I am hopeful we can share more details as the case unfolds.

  1. How horrific for those poor dogs. She sat there watching them suffer and starve to death. Time for USDA to inspect shelters and rescues. There is nothing worse than starving to death in a cage. I do not care how sick she is, she needs to pay for these crimes against innocent dogs that deserved better. With all she did why didn’t she ask for help? I’m taking bets most were pitt bulls. RIP doggies you deserved better. 🙁
