In Washington, D.C., the 14-year-old West Highland terrier stolen from his owner at gunpoint on Saturday has been found and reunited with his exuberant human.

According to WtopNews, Zaleena Ahmed had been walking her dog Max, near the Fort Totten Metro Station at 10:00 p.m. when she was attacked by two people at gunpoint. Although Ahmed put up a struggle, the person with the gun hit her on the head. The other person then grabbed Max, jumped into a black minivan and sped away.

On Tuesday, a man in the Kenilworth Park area found Max and took the dog to the 6th District Police Headquarters in Northeast after recognizing the dog from his photos.

It had been the Metropolitan Police Department that had been handling the attack and theft of the dog investigation. Ahmed required stitches in her head, but after she received the phone call from the detective at the police station that Max had been found, she was ecstatic.

Are you Max’s mom?

And no, Max didn’t have any “crazy reaction” like one would see in the movies, and he didn’t run towards her as Zaleena approached the dog with his favorite blanket, water, toys and an ice cream treat, but rather seemed to have been expecting her to have picked him up sooner.

Max is an older gent and suffers from some medical issues, but he’s doing better, and perhaps acting more like a grumpy old man – but hey, he’s home, he’s loved, and Zaleena is relieved her best friend is safe.
