In Pearland, Texas, a rapidly growing city that offers great schools, affordable home prices, low crime, and something for everyone, one 13-week-old puppy hasn’t reaped anything positive in her very short life thus far. It’s almost as if she was born to suffer.

It’s very hard to imagine a tiny puppy abandoned in the street suffering from a painful skin ailment like Isabelle, but she’s one of the lucky ones; she’s been rescued. The Good Samaritans who found her on Friday, called the Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty emergency ambulance. They picked her up and called ThisIsHouston for help.

And now Isabelle is at the emergency veterinarian hospital where she is receiving life saving care and treatment. Mange has spread over her entire body and is likely accompanied by anemia and infections. Upon entering the hospital, Isabelle was extremely uncomfortable. Her legs are ulcerated, and she has an abscess on her face. She has a fever, and everything possible is being done to alleviate her pain and make her feel better.

We do know for sure that Isabelle is receiving the best of care possible. And we all wonder how this kind of cruelty can happen, yet it does. Many thanks to ThisIsHouston for reaching out to save so many lives.

Isabelle’s photos tell only the beginning of her story. Stay tuned.
