The Anicira Veterinary Hospital in Manassas is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the culprit(s) responsible for critically injuring a dog using a bow and arrow.
According to the vet hospital, the disturbing incident occurred on June 16, 2022 when a five-year-old black and white pit bull named Keeley was shot through the back with an arrow. The dog underwent emergency surgery on Wednesday and is currently in stable condition. Keeley had experienced severe pain and bleeding as a result of her injuries, but is now resting comfortably, and it is hoped with ongoing supportive care, her condition will improve.
The arrow passed through her back, shattering a vertebra; just missing her heart and spine. Despite her terrible experience, Keeley remains in good spirits, and we are sure she is looking forward to going home.
Studies have shown a direct link between cruelty to animals and violence towards humans. Abuse of animals is linked to child abuse, domestic abuse, elder abuse, and other violent behaviors. This connection — often referred to as “The Link” — makes it vitally important that cruelty towards animals is taken seriously by the Rockingham County community.Anicira Vet Hospital Facebook
