In Bonsall, California, a cheetah cub named Tavi had been born on the East Coast as the only cub in his litter. Sadly, for cheetahs being an only “child” is not a good thing. It was very concerning that the mom might kill her only cub, and a search began for a better future for Tavi.

And it wasn’t long before Wild Wonders adopted the orphan cub and everyone agreed, since there were not any other cheetah cubs around needing a family, it would be the best alternative to find Tavi a dog. Yes, that’s right – a dog. And in October, Tavi’s life changed for the better.

Nature can be cruel; oftentimes when a single cub is born, or becomes a singleton from the litter dying, Mother cheetahs will abandon the cub or stop lactating. Meet Tavi(good in Aramaic and named in honor of our Beloved Victor and Tango). As Tavi was a singleton, with no mom or litters his age to cross foster, a decision was made to hand raise to save his life. We are blessed at Wild Wonders to be chosen as Tavis forever home. Shortly he will be introduced to his 4 legged furry companion, Yarra(means friend) and we know these two will become fast friends. Tavis mission as he grows up will be to raise awareness and support for his wild cousins in Victors footsteps

And so stepped in with all four paws, was Yarra; a people and animal loving yellow Labrador retriever. Admittedly, it was a daunting task to introduce the two completely different species. After all, Tavi was scared of everything while Yarra loved to play and especially took a very kind liking to swimming; not too many cats enjoy swimming. Let’s face it.

Somehow, however the two overlooked each other’s peculiarities and became the best of friends.

It is, this will be for their entire life so when he bets to be 100 pounds and she is close to it they will still be the best of friends. It was meant to be, it was absolutely meant to be.
