At the City of Denton Animal Shelter in Texas, a dog lost for six months was reunited with his owners in a very emotional and tearful event on Saturday.

Let’s start from the beginning on November 27, 2021, when the family dog went missing. His owners were devastated and drove around every day for months searching for their lost dog. In addition, they posted fliers, called out to social media for help and notified nearby shelters. Still, no one had spotted Chase.

Fast forward now to April 27, 2022, when officers were contacted about three dogs that had been running loose on a resident’s property for an unknown amount of time. Two days later, animal cruelty deputies set a trap, and the next day received a call that one of the dogs had been captured. Unfortunately he had no microchip.

The shelter named the friendly pooch Kendolph, and after his five-day stray hold, he was ready to be placed on the adoption floor.

Because we have some amazing people out there that keep track of all the missing animals, the owners were contacted last night and after almost 6 long months they came to the shelter first thing this morning to confirm that Kendolph was really their Chase.

The morning turned out to be a “grab the tissues” event. Watch the reunion on video here:

Chase also helped to save one of the other dogs. One of the rescue heroes added more details.

We are so glad he found his family through the Animal shelter!!!! Chase is such a beautiful dog. He was protective of the female dog in the picture that we trapped recently as well. It took us a while to gain their trust but it makes my heart feel so good to see this happy ending. Thank you to the shelter for taking all my calls.
