In South China’s Guangdong Province, at the Guangzhou Zoo, a white lion has intrigued social media with his recent mane which oddly sports blunt cut bangs. A good majority of the internet crowd insist someone gave the lion’s mane a new cut.

According to the Global Times and the Pearl River News, the white lion, whose name is A hang, has been at the zoo since 2015 and originated from Hangzhou, in East China’s Zhejiang Province and looks exactly the same as when he first arrived.

One employee at the zoo stated that A hang’s hair grows that way and is brushed that way as the wind blows through his mane. The bangs are the result of the high humidity – making his thick mane droop. Obviously, no one from the staff would have gone into the lion’s cage to trim his mane. The zoo also contends that the lion grooms himself by licking his fur – much as how a cat licks himself, and that is what has caused his mane to look different.

Of course, the internet has some of unique remarks comparing A hang to Joe Exotic from the Tiger King or Howard Wolowitz from The Big Bang series. Still other people were genuinely annoyed and believe someone actually cut his bangs.

  1. Sorry, those bangs and mane do NOT look remotely “natural”…….. they look like someone has spent lots of time styling them…….

I don’t understand why someone would want to style a lion’s mane and create bangs??? It seems to me that this is an unnecessary AND very dangerous thing to do…….

Humidity, btw, often “frizzes out” hair……. Does not make hair appear to be “high styled and blown dry”!!!

Imho I think it’s much safer for everyone to leave the lion’s mane alone!!!
