Cattaraugus County, NY – An investigation is underway following the discovery of a retired police K9 who was found dead last Friday. The dog, a German shepherd named Haso, had disappeared on April 25 in the area of Ashford. The Erie County Sheriff’s Office had utilized social media in an effort to find the missing dog, Tweeting:

Help locate a retired ECSO K9
On 4-25, Haso took off in the area of Ashford Hollow & Rte 240 in Ashford.
Haso 8yo, sable-colored & has a microchip.
If you spot Haso, please notify ECSO immediately at 716.858.2903. Use caution remember he is a retired K9.

But the search came to a tragic end when Haso’s body was found by a detective with the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office – it is believed that Haso was deliberately killed, though the details about how he died have not yet been released.

Haso was partnered with Erie County sheriff’s deputy Ricky Lundberg, who wants the dog to be remembered for all of the lives he saved. Lundberg said that before the violent end, Haso had a good life, he said, “His life was well-lived and happy.”

  1. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE, DEAREST OFFICER HASO! PLEASE KEEP WATCHING OVER US FROM HEAVEN! “KARMA” WILL DO THE REST!

    • I agree to everything you said. Animals serve us so admirably and yet it doesn’t stop some from speaking out badly about them. It won’t stop me from being in awe of their loyalty and love.
