Hilarious: Dog owner fakes phone call using trigger words to watch her pup’s reaction

A two-year-old adorable Maltipoo named Pocky is living the best life with her family, and there doesn’t seem to be any shortage of love. Some of her favorite things are car rides, snacks, toys, cuddles with dad and walks with her human brothers and sisters.

Pocky was only 8-weeks-old when she became part of the family, and since then there has been no shortage of attention, toys and grooming experiences. So maybe a day with the groomer isn’t always a favorite, but Pocky has been learning a lot these last few years; among them that sometimes humans can be very funny.

And that’s where the best part of our story begins. In a video shared on Instagram by user@pockythemaltipoo, Pocky’s mom decided to pretend to be on the phone and use her dog’s favorite words in a conversation and see if Pocky would react.

In the pretend call, mom repeatedly used Pocky’s trigger words – toy, snack, daddy and eat. While mom is lying on the bed and Pocky is lying behind her, the pup’s head comes up, and we all know she’s paying attention to those fun words.

“Jumped on the wagon and tried this with Pocky. I thought she wouldn’t react. I was wrong. Lol! She definitely got a treat after that.”

Researchers tell us that dogs are not only able to comprehend some words, they also understand our body language and the intonation. Dogs have the same cognitive ability as a one-year-old child.

So in the future, if you think your dog doesn’t understand the difference between “Yes” and “No” and you have been using the words appropriately with your voice tone and your body language, Fido just might be ignoring you.

Pocky’s video garnered more than 9,000 “likes” and without a doubt, her audience all said she deserved a treat.
