Heartbreaking scene where dog sits and watches the ocean for his deceased owner to return

Every day, a dog dubbed “Vaguito” walks to the beach to sit and watch the ocean for his owner to return home. The dog is from Punta Negra, a province of Peru, and it has been an elderly woman, along with many of the local residents, who have been caring for the dog since his owner was killed at sea.

According to the Daily Mail, the story went viral after people had spotted the dog’s daily routine. Every morning he would leave the home of the woman caring for him and run off to the beach, sit down and just wait. At first beachgoers thought Vaguito had been a stray, but area resident Jolie Mejia who had been enjoying the beach with her family, spotted the dog and was able to approach the friendly pup and stroke his soft fur. The dog had been wearing a collar, and initially Jolie thought the dog was just waiting until his owner finished swimming, but then a local resident told her the heartbreaking story.

The man told Jolie that he had lived with a fisherman who passed away a few years ago. Since that time, Vaguito returns every morning and looks out onto the sea waiting for him to return home.

I have a dog at home. I love dogs in general. His story really touched my heart.
