Dying bear crushes skull of hunter who shot it in Russia

A 62-year-old Russian hunter was killed by the bear he shot from an elevated platform in the Irkutsk region of Siberia, According to Newsweek, the bear attacked the hunter as the man descended from the platform and attacked him.

The hunter had been reported missing, and a search party later found the deceased man covered in claw and fang wounds. The bear had also crushed the man’s skull.

The mortally wounded predator managed to inflict an injury from which the hunter died.

As cited by Newsweek according to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs

And less than 50 yards from where the dead hunter was found, the brown bear’s lifeless body was spotted. Eurasian brown bears are the most common in the forests of Siberia.

Bears usually stay away from humans unless they are provoked or feel threatened. Brown bears can weigh up to 1,300 pounds. Humans are rarely in the diet of bears and would rather get readily available prey rather than fight.
