Spartanburg, SC – A dog survived being choked and thrown from a 34-foot bridge in Spartanburg. As reported by Fox Carolina, police arrested 43-year-old Shanon Lee Cantrell on a charge of ill-treatment to animals after the October 3 incident that the dog astonishingly survived.

When the police found Cantrell, he had a dog in a chokehold. He told officers that “witches” had instructed him to throw his dog from the 34-foot bridge twice. Cantrell released custody of the dog and he was taken to Greenville County Animal Care for an exam and care.

Cantrell was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.

According to animal shelter, the year-old dog did not have apparent injuries but was clearly scared by what he had been through.
