A brave woman who lives in the Churapcha Village in Siberia heard the cries of a dog close to death late last week. When she went to investigate, she gasped as she saw the dying dog encased in ice with only her head free. This year has been one of the country’s harshest winters and the temperature that day registered as -65.2 degrees Fahrenheit.
According to the Daily Mail, the woman tried repeatedly to break the ice and free the dog but was unable. She enlisted the help of her neighbors, who together were able to break the ice with crowbars and free the dog. A video posted by Terenty Tomsky circulated on social media showing the efforts of everyone trying to help the dog before it was too late.
The video showed the dog had a tag in her left ear – meaning she had previously been trapped, vaccinated and spayed.
Miraculously once freed, the dog only suffered from frostbitten feet and legs and was bandaged and has been successfully treated by a local veterinarian. She is quickly recovering, and better yet – she has been adopted by the woman, a hospital worker, who first heard the dog crying.
