Snow day fun for the National Zoo’s pandas

In the midst of the winter snowstorm in Washington, D.C. giant pandas Mei Xiang and Tian Tian didn’t care about traffic warnings or digging out of their driveway. Instead the two decided it was to be a genuine snow day at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo.

The duo rolled and tumbled no doubt loving the snow. In a video shared online, the female Mei Xiang and boy Tian Tian are shown tumbling and rolling around in the snow in their outdoor habitat. One of the pandas is just too adorable as she slides on her back and then rolls through the trees.

“Slides, somersaults and pure panda joy. Happy snow day from giant pandas Mei Xiang and Tian Tian!,” the zoo posted.

And if these two frolicking in the snow making us smile, there were also photos of the the five-month-old panda cub named Xiao Qi Ji, who felt snow beneath those furry paws for the first time. The little cub weighs 22 pounds and will gain another 230 pounds as an adult. The zoo considers him ” a very relaxed kind of dude” with a “bit of an attitude.

The zoo is temporarily closed to the public because of the coronavirus.
