The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Singapore are investigating a series of disturbing videos showing a man repeatedly slapping a small poodle with the animal’s legs and muzzle tied up.

On Saturday morning, the SPCA were notified after  videos appeared online showing the egregious animal cruelty.  Brenda Tan shared the videos of a man filming himself punching the tied up dog on her social media platforms.

“Fearing for the animal’s life and safety, we put out an urgent appeal for information on social media and very quickly received details on the suspect,” a Facebook post from the animal protection organization stated.

Later in the day, an update was posted:

UPDATE: We have received information on the suspect’s identity and whereabouts. We thank the public for their prompt assistance.

The authorities were quick to respond this morning and have visited the unit. The dog is currently not under the care of the suspect. Investigations are ongoing.

Anyone with further information on this case can contact the SPCA via our 24hr hotline at 6287 5355 ext 9 or email inspector@spca.org.sg. All information provided will be treated in the strictest of confidence.

URGENT APPEAL: DOG ABUSE———————————————

UPDATE: “The dog is in good physical condition and is well taken care of by its current owner,” said Ms Jessica Kwok, group director of AVS at NParks.

“As investigations are ongoing, we ask the public to allow it to run its proper course.
“We thank the public for their concern over the dog’s safety.”

According to the advocacy group Chained Dog Awareness,  however, the dog has not been seen for over a year suggesting the video may have been an old one.

An investigation continues.
