In Pinellas Park, Florida, the owner of a small dog was arrested on Sunday after authorities accused him of choking his dog to death because it bit his girlfriend on the ankle.

According to FoxNews, Joseph Wayne Walker’s girlfriend said the dog had bitten her in the ankle while she was outside of Walker’s home. That is when Walker a man of 5-foot-11 and weighing 200 pounds straddled the 25-pound dog and strangled her.

After his arrest, Walker admitted to police the dog had not been aggressive to anyone when he went outside.

The dog struggled to get free of Walker’s unrelenting choke hold – the man suffered scratch marks on his stomach as the poor dog tried to escape. The Tampa Bay Times reports Walker was booked at the Pinellas County jail and later released on $10,000 bail.

A judge ordered Walker to have no pets.
