A 14-year-old dog, in the twilight of her life, is at risk at a Texas animal control agency which is totally full. The elderly Labrador retriever mix, Jessie, has been at the Galveston County Animal Resource Center since July 20 and she needs to leave as soon as possible.

An email outlining the dire situation at the animal shelter explains:

We are currently down to less than 5 open dog kennels, and we have more dogs coming into the facility as I write this email. We are reaching out because the following 6 dogs are at-risk due to a lack of space.

Jessie is one of the dogs listed as “at-risk.” Pertinent information has been shared about the senior dog:

Jessie” (ID 19420)
Yellow Lab mix
Estimated Age: 14 years old
Spayed Female
Notes: Sweet girl who is easy to handle; she really just enjoys taking naps and being an older gal
With other dogs: Showed no interest in the other dog. They were both off leash together in the yard
Intake: 7/20 as a stray

Will you please help Jessie find a retirement home to spend the remainder of her life in? Networking saves lives!
