The person who posted a video of himself throwing a neighbor’s small dog into a ravine in Holt has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty. Anthony Terell Stewart was charged on Saturday with felony aggravated animal cruelty and misdemeanor second-degree cruelty to a dog.

According to the Tuscaloosa News, the video sparked outrage in May when Stewart, 19, hurled a neighbor’s dog into a vine covered ditch.

“This is what happens to stray dogs that follow me,” he called out in the video.

The video zoomed in on the area and there were no signs of the seven-month-old puppy getting up or escaping.

Investigators were soon able to identify Stewart. The dog’s owner Kecia Smith searched for her puppy named Charlie for days. It is not known if the dog was ever found. Smith stated Charlie was a very friendly pup and would approach anyone to play.

Stewart has a previous arrest from a year ago after allegedly attacking a man and stealing $200 from the wallet he dropped. His bond was revoked and he’s been in the custody of the Tuscaloosa County Jail since September on that charge.
