A 26-year-old man from Madison County, Indiana is facing animal cruelty charges after allegedly getting angry at a dog for barking and then killing it. Timothy R. Neill was arrested on animal cruelty charges and appeared in court on Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.

According to the Herald Bulletin, police were called to Neill’s home on July 5, at the 100 block of Winding Drive in Alexandria, after a report of the man’s stepson killing the family dog. When authorities arrived, the man was holding the lifeless body of a small brown dog. A choker chain had been hanging around the dog’s neck.

The man told police his stepson was angry because the dogs had been barking. Neill came rushing out of his bedroom and grabbed the dog by its choke chain and swung it around, ultimately slamming the defenseless animal into the coffee table.

Neill, however told police the dog tried to bite him and he used the leash to grab the 20-pound pup admitting to  killing it. He said he wanted to make oatmeal in the kitchen, and every time he walked by, the dog would try to bite him. The coffee table in the living room was broken.

The investigation continues.

  1. I’d like to smash that smug smile off this mutant’s face. He’s smiling because he thinks the authorities are going to believe his lies about the dog trying to bite him and give him a pass on killing the helpless little guy. Who knows? Maybe the dog DID try to bite him because a dog can tell when a person is evil.

  2. Well This Stepson WOULD DEFINATELY BE WRITTEN OUT OF THE WILL!!!!!OUT OF THE HOUSE AND FOREVER BARED FROM THE PROPERTY!!! IF HIS MOM DIDN”T LIKE IT SHE COULD GO TOO!!! THAT POOR DOG !

  3. I hope this worthless POS is banished from the house. If he will do this to your pet then rest assured YOU are next.

  4. I only hope Indiana has some semblance of animal cruelty laws and that the District Attorney is willing to toss this smug jerk in jail for murdering the family pet. There’s absolutely no sense in killing a dog for barking. The dog probably needed to go to the bathroom and was trying to let someone know. Timothy Neill should never be able to own another animal the rest of his miserable life.
